DC Sham Chairs Fourth Review Meeting of District Level NCORD Committee.
Khaltsi, October 07, 2026: The Deputy Commissioner, Sham, Smt. Kunzes Angmo (JKAS), today chaired the fourth review meeting of the District Level NCORD (Narco Coordination) Committee at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Khaltsi, to review measures being undertaken to prevent drug abuse, illicit trafficking and illegal cultivation of narcotic crops in the district.
The Committee reviewed the Action Taken Report (ATR) on the decisions taken during the third NCORD meeting held on September 05, 2026. The Deputy Commissioner assessed the progress made by various departments and stressed the need for timely implementation of the decisions taken by the Committee.
The meeting discussed the exchange of intelligence and information on drug trafficking trends, progress of investigations in cases having inter-state implications, and cases registered under the NDPS Act. Measures for strengthening anti-drug awareness and drug demand reduction programmes, particularly among students and youth, were also reviewed.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of sustained awareness campaigns through coordinated efforts of the Police, Education, Health, Social Welfare and other concerned departments, with special focus on youth and vulnerable groups.
She directed all concerned departments to prepare and implement department-wise NCORD action plans and ensure regular monitoring of progress. She further stressed the need for stronger inter-district surveillance and close coordination among the Police, Excise and other enforcement agencies to prevent the movement and trafficking of narcotic substances across district boundaries.
The meeting concluded with an emphasis on a coordinated, preventive and community-oriented approach towards combating drug abuse and illicit trafficking. The Deputy Commissioner called upon all stakeholder departments to intensify their collective efforts towards making Sham district drug-free.
