DDAC Organises Awareness Camp on Substance Abuse at Panchayat Ghar Trespone-A

Kargil, October 04, 2025: As a pre-event activity to mark the upcoming 5th anniversary of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the District De-Addiction Centre (DDAC) Kargil today organised an awareness camp on substance abuse and its prevention at Panchayat Ghar, Trespone-A, in collaboration with various religious organisations.
On the occasion, Councillor Saliskote Sajjad Hussain, Manager DDAC, representatives from IKMT, JUIAK, and Anjuman Al-Ghadeer, Project Coordinator, Counsellor and Nurse from DDAC, the concerned Nambardar, and local villagers were present.
Addressing the gathering, Manager DDAC Imtiyaz Hussain highlighted the rising trend of substance use among youth in Kargil and stressed the need for early intervention and community participation to tackle the issue effectively. He also briefed the audience about the various facilities and counselling services available at the De-Addiction Centre Kargil, located at the Old District Hospital.
He said that the programme aims to spread awareness among youth and community members about the harmful effects of drug addiction and the importance of collective efforts in building a drug-free society.
Councillor Sajjad Hussain appreciated the efforts of DDAC for organising such awareness programmes and urged the department to continue and expand these initiatives across villages to ensure a drug-free Kargil.
Agha Syed Ali Musavi and Sheikh Bashir Shakiri from IKMT emphasised the importance of collective efforts to safeguard society from the harmful effects of drug abuse.
Agha Syed Raza Rizvi from JUIAK highlighted the dangers of substance abuse and called upon all religious organisations to unite against this menace.
Sheikh Hussain Rayeesi, Chairperson of Anjuman Al-Ghadeer, urged the community to focus on guiding and protecting children and youth from addiction.
Other speakers also shared their views, encouraging youth to stay away from drugs and channel their energy towards positive and productive activities.
All the speakers and stakeholders conveyed a strong message of unity against substance abuse. The event concluded with the distribution of IEC materials among the participants.
