Leh, July 06, 2024: A delegation from Lecturers Forum Leh led by its President, Shri Tsering Tundup, called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at Raj Niwas.
Principal Secretary, School Education Department, Shri Sanjeev Khirwar, IAS and Director, School Education Department, Shri Tsering Paldan, JKAS, were present in the meeting.
Shri Tundup requested the HLG for the establishment of Human Resource Management and State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in Ladakh. He informed the HLG that Education and Environmental Science are among the subjects not to be included in the CBSE curriculum and requested the HLG that lecturers of these subjects be accommodated in the Higher Secondary schools of Ladakh.
Principal Secretary, School Education Department, Shri Sanjeev Khirwar informed the HLG about the proposal to establish State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in Ladakh. He stated that an Establishment Section, on the lines of Human Resource Management, has been set up in the Directorate of School Education Department to handle seniority lists and transfer issues.
The HLG emphasised the importance of maintaining an appropriate teacher-student ratio in schools. He asked Director, School Education Department to prioritise the establishment of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) in Ladakh. He also stated that teaching staff would not be adjusted to carry out any administrative work in UT Ladakh.
