Delegation of BJP State Mahila Morcha calls on Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd)

Leh, 05 May, 2025: A delegation from BJP State Mahila Morcha, led by its President, Rinchen Dolkar, called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) to express their heartfelt appreciation for passing the resolution for granting 33 percent reservation for women by the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh for Hill Council elections during the recent General Council Meeting.
Rinchen Dolkar conveyed sincere gratitude to the HLG for his dedicated efforts in securing the reservation for women and urged its implementation in the upcoming LAHDC Leh elections. She emphasised that this initiative would significantly enhance women’s participation in local governance and the decision-making process.
In addition to expressing their appreciation, the delegates also highlighted the pressing need for hostel facilities for working women and girl students hailing from remote areas. They pointed out the challenges faced by them due to the lack of accommodation facilities in Leh and requested the HLG’s intervention in addressing this issue.
Responding to the delegation, HLG acknowledged that the achievement of women’s reservation in LAHDC was made possible by the able leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He further expressed confidence in its successful implementation in the upcoming elections once the LAHDC Act is amended in the Parliament.
Regarding the request for hostel facilities, HLG stated that the LAHDC plays a vital role in such provisions and advised the delegation to take up the matter with the Hill Council for necessary action.
