Delegation of contractual non-teaching staff of KGBV calls on Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd).

Leh, March 12, 2025: A delegation of contractual non-teaching staff of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) schools in Durbuk, Nyoma and Nubra sub-divisions called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) at Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat to address their concerns regarding the enhancement of salaries.
The delegation apprised the HLG that they have been working in KGBV schools since 2008 and their salaries were revised only once from 1200 per month to 10000 per month in 2018. They requested HLG’s intervention in the further enhancement of their salaries to make ends meet.
The HLG, after consultation with the concerned Secretary of School Education and Director Finance, informed them that they were engaged under the central government’s Samagara Shiksha Abhiyaan scheme, which is a fully centrally sponsored scheme of the Government of India and they are paid as per the mandate of that scheme by the concerned ministry.
HLG also assured to write to the concerned Ministry through the Secretary of School Education for the revision of their salaries.
Chief Secretary UT Ladakh, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IAS; Secretary Rural Development/ Social Welfare Department, Shashanka Ala, IAS; Secretary School Education, Bhanu Prabha, IAS, and Director Finance, Dr. Safdar Ali, IRS, were present during the meeting.
