    Delegations from Thasgam, Rangdum & Tirith call on Hon’ble Lt Governor, Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd).
    Leh, March 12, 2024: A delegation from Thasgam village led by its Nambardar, Shri Ghulam Hussain, called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Advisor to HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS, and Chief Engineer, PWD, Ladakh, Shri Abdul Mutalib, were present in the meeting.
    Shri Hussain informed the HLG that Thasgam village is situated along the National Highway (NH-1D) and also about the survey conducted for the upgradation and realignment of the four-lane national highway. He informed the apprehension of the villagers regarding the damage to their land and buildings due to the upgradation and realignment of the national highway. He requested the HLG for re-alignment of the national highway from the other side of the village.
    The HLG spoke to Chief Engineer, Project Vijayak and directed him to review the alignment of the national highway at the earliest.
    A delegation from Rangdum village led by Manager, Rangdum Gonpa, Shri Tsering Phuntsog, called on the HLG at the LG Secretariat. Advisor to HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal was present in the meeting.
    Shri Phuntsog raised several demands, viz. inclusion of Rangdum village into Zanskar sub-division, construction of the Rangdum-Kanji Road, establishment of 11 KV line with Northern Grid for Rangdum village, construction of Irrigation canal at Tashi Stongday in Rangdum, etc.
    The HLG stated that a thorough study would be conducted to assess the feasibility of including Rangdum in the Zanskar sub-division. He asked Shri Phuntsog to submit a proposal for the construction of Rangdum-Kanji Road through LAHDC Kargil. The HLG assured Shri Phunstog that electricity Rangdum village would be connected to Northern Grid. The HLG also asked Advisor, Dr Kotwal, to direct concerned officials to construct an irrigation canal for the benefit of the villagers.
    A delegation from Tirith village in Nubra sub-division led by Member, Shri Tsering Phunstog, called on the HLG at the LG Secretariat. Advisor to HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS and Chief Engineer, PWD, Ladakh, Shri Abdul Mutalib were present in the meeting.
    Shri Phunstog requested the HLG for reallocation of the Girder bridge at Ches village being constructed between Lakjung-Diskit at Nubra sub-division
    Shri Mutalib informed the HLG that a tender was floated in 2018 for the 240-metre long bridge for Rs 35 crores, which later increased to Rs 82 crores as an additional 120 metre had to be added to the bridge.
    The HLG directed Advisor to HLG, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS, to order the Secretary, PWD, Ladakh to issue an order for technical study in the matter.
