As part of the Independence Day celebrations, the Department of Hindi, Government Degree College (GDC) Zanskar, today organized and presented a poignant short play depicting the horrors of Partition and the immense suffering endured by people who were forced to leave their homes and migrate to India.
The programme was conducted under the able supervision of Dr. Amjad Ali Abassi, Principal, Government Degree College Zanskar and coordinated by the Department of Hindi. The play was aimed at sensitizing the audience, particularly the younger generation, to the profound human suffering, displacement, and trauma caused by the Partition of India.
Through a compelling and emotionally evocative performance, the students portrayed the struggles of families who were compelled to abandon their homes, land, possessions, and loved ones. The play depicted their arrival in India with little more than grief, fear, uncertainty, and painful memories. At the same time, it highlighted their remarkable resilience and determination to rebuild their lives with dignity, hope, and courage despite the immense hardships they had endured.
The performance conveyed a powerful message about the enduring importance of peace, unity, humanity, communal harmony, and mutual understanding. It also underscored the extraordinary strength and resilience of those who survived the tragedy of Partition and succeeded in rebuilding their lives in the face of unimaginable adversity.
The emotionally moving presentation received an overwhelming response from the audience. It served as a solemn reminder of the tragic consequences of division, hatred, and violence, while paying tribute to the courage, perseverance, and resilience of the countless individuals and families who endured the horrors of Partition.
