Department of Information & Public Relations (DIPR), UT Ladakh, and Press Club Leh and other local media persons interacted with delegations of media team from Assam Leh Tuesday. DIPR Leh and Press Club Leh extended a warm welcome with traditional khataks to the delegation from Assam, led by Ms. Smita Saikia from Press Information Bureau.
The visiting team included 13 journalists representing PIB Assam, various private e-media platforms, and prominent YouTuber who arrived in Leh as part of an exposure tour on 28th July, 2025.
The gathering began with an introductory address by Stanzin Wangmo, AE&CO, DIPR, Leh who spoke insightfully about the evolving role of media in Ladakh and reflected on the region’s transition over the years — from being part of the larger Jammu & Kashmir state to becoming a Union Territory. She highlighted the shifting dynamics in the press landscape and the growing importance of digital and independent journalism.
An open conversation followed, fostering a lively exchange of perspectives between journalists from Assam and their counterparts in Leh. Topics ranged from cultural and regional diversity to the present socio-political developments in both regions. The interactive session served as a platform for mutual learning, promoting a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by media in distinct parts of India.
The event not only strengthened professional bonds between media personnel but also set the stage for future collaborations and knowledge sharing between the two regions.
The event was attended by Media delegation from Assam, Press Club President Morup Stanzin, General Secretary Rigzin Angmo, Member Tsewang Rigzin and other journalists, along with officials from Department of Information and Public Relations Leh.
