    Drass, July 16, 2026: Deputy Commissioner, Drass, Imteeaz Kacho (JKAS), today chaired a meeting in his office to review arrangements for the forthcoming 6th LG Horse Polo Cup. The meeting was focussed on ensuring coordinated preparations by all concerned departments for successfully conducting the prestigious sporting event.
    The Deputy Commissioner informed that the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh has agreed to be the Chief Guest on the final day of the tournament on 27th July and urged that the arrangements should be made in a very effective and coordinated manner.
    During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed the status of logistical arrangements, security, medical facilities, tourism-related preparations, sports management, Animal Husbandry support and infrastructure works. He directed all Departments to work in close coordination and ensure that all necessary arrangements are completed well in time.
    The meeting was attended by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Drass, Vishal Atri; Block Medical Officer, Drass; District Youth Services & Sports Officer, Kargil; Executive Engineer, R&B Drass; Executive Engineer, REW Drass; Assistant Executive Engineer, PDD-Drass; Station House Officer, Drass; Block Veterinary Officer (Animal Husbandry), Drass; Block Veterinary Officer (Sheep), Drass; Zonal Physical Education Officer, Drass; Junior Engineer, PHE-Drass as well as officials of Tourism Department.
    The Deputy Commissioner stressed on the importance of inter-departmental coordination and instructed all officers to ensure that arrangements related to security, sanitation, drinking water, power supply, medical assistance, transportation, venue management and other essential services are put in place on time and effectively for smoothly and successfully organizing the event.
    He also directed that special care of the horses and players should be taken during the entire tournament. He urged that the entire tournament should carry a festive look and directed that stalls of various Departments, SHG and local residents should be opened near the venue during the entire period of the tournament.
    The Deputy Commissioner also expressed delight about the fact that this year’s LG Horse Polo Cup is being organized in the newly created Drass District and carries special significance.
