    Drass, May 14, 2026: Deputy Commissioner Drass, Imteeaz Kacho (JKAS) today visited the Grid Station of Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) in Drass today to take stock of the functioning, overall infrastructural position of the station and the power supply scenario. He was accompanied by Superintendent of Police Drass, Ishtiyaq Kacho (JKPS) and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Drass, Vishal Atri (JKAS). They were welcomed by officials of PGCIL including Asif Amin, Deputy General Manager; Bikram Kalsi, Deputy General Manager; Deepak Kumar, Chief Manager and others.
    During the visit, the officers took a round of the Power Grid Station and reviewed the operational status, power supply management and maintenance of essential infrastructure. The PGCIL officials briefed them about the functioning of the station, ongoing works and measures being undertaken to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the entire Union Territory of Ladakh.
    The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of maintaining a reliable and efficient power distribution system, especially in the challenging climatic conditions of Drass. He emphasized the need to ensure timely maintenance and prompt response to public issues related to electricity supply.
    The Superintendent of Police also stressed on the importance of coordination among departments for safeguarding critical infrastructure and ensuring smooth functioning of essential services.
    The visiting officers appreciated the efforts of the PGCIL staff for their dedicated services and commitment towards maintaining uninterrupted electricity supply.
    During the interaction, the Deputy commissioner also directed PGCIL to ensure timely completion of the 66 KV transmission line to the Zojila Tunnel’s Eastern Portal so that uninterrupted power is supplied to the tunnel early and dependence on diesel is be reduced drastically.
