DIET Leh, in Collaboration with 17000ft Foundation, Commences Three-Day Balvatika Training Programme.
The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Leh, in collaboration with the 17000ft Foundation, commenced a three-day Balvatika Training Programme today for teachers from 25 sample schools of Leh district. Around 60 participants are attending the training programme. The programme is being conducted in accordance with the NIPUN Bharat Mission guidelines and aims to strengthen the implementation of contextualized Model Balvatikas in schools for enhancing early childhood learning outcomes. The training focuses on creating joyful and activity-based learning environments through the effective use of child-friendly, indigenous Teaching-Learning Materials (TLMs), particularly those made from wood, cotton, and other locally available resources suitable for young learners.
The inaugural session was graced by Shri S.D. Namgial, Principal, DIET Leh, who highlighted the significance of early childhood education in laying a strong foundation for lifelong learning. He emphasized that the successful implementation of the Balvatika model requires teachers to adopt innovative, play-based, and experiential teaching strategies that cater to the developmental needs of children. He encouraged the participants to make optimum use of the knowledge and skills acquired during the training in their respective schools.
The training is being facilitated by Ms. Archana and her team from the 17000ft Foundation, who are conducting interactive sessions on the Model Balvatika framework, activity-based pedagogy, classroom organization, and the effective use of contextualized teaching-learning materials to foster holistic development among young learners.
The three-day programme is expected to strengthen the capacity of teachers in establishing vibrant and child-centric Balvatikas, thereby supporting the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the NIPUN Bharat Mission for achieving foundational literacy and numeracy in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
