    Director of Sheep Husbandry, UT Ladakh, visits Khaltse and Wanla.
    Khaltse, October 01, 2024: Director of Sheep Husbandry Department Dr. Iftikhar Hussain visited Khaltse and held a meeting with village representatives, namberdars, and field staffs of livestock Development Office Khaltsi Block, yesterday on September 30, 2024. Hon’ble Councillor Khaltse Constituency, Lobzang Sherab and Block Officer, Dr. Tsewang Dolma also attend the meeting.
    The meeting highlighting the importance of livestock rearing and activities of department in enhancing livestocks. During the meeting representative requested for increase in salary of Rarzee and to expand their grazing season and also to provide paramedic workers. They also requested for providing training for women Self Help group at village level in wool processing and their products to enhanced local livelihood. Further they also requested for feed supplement and livestock shelter to protect from wild animals and stray dogs. Director Sheep Husbandry department, assured full support and assured to fulfill their demand from his side.
    During the meeting, Hon’ble Councillor, discussed the problems associated with stray dogs and negative impacts on the community with the Director. He stressed on dog’s threat to human and other animals and the need to find a solution to reduce their population. The director assured to take a matter further.
    Both Director and Hon’ble Councillor appreciated the work of one of the breeders: Tsewang Gyaltson from Skurbuchan village regarding his way of livestock rearing. The Director promised him to provide every possible incentive.
    Later, he held a meeting with officers and officials and highlighted the importance of record keeping, punctuality and improving field performance. He also inspected DSWC Wanla and expressed satisfaction and suggested repairing the centre. Moreover, the Director also inspected the proposed site of construction of DSWC Wanla.
