Kargil, May 20, 2026: A comprehensive review meeting under the chairmanship of Director School Education, UT Ladakh, Syed Sajjad Qadri (JKAS), was convened today to deliberate upon various academic and administrative matters concerning the functioning of the School Education Department across the Union Territory.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Education Officers of Leh and Kargil, Principals of DIET Leh and Kargil, all Zonal Education Officers of Leh and Kargil districts, along with officials and employees of the Directorate of School Education, Ladakh.
During the meeting, the Director appreciated the dedicated efforts of School Heads and teachers of institutions that registered excellent results in the Board examinations. It was emphasized that schools with comparatively lower performance need focused academic interventions and continuous improvement. The Directorate also assured felicitation and recognition of best-performing teachers from such institutions.
To strengthen academic monitoring and institutional performance, it was decided that zone-wise weekly review meetings shall be conducted regularly in future.
The Zonal Education Officers were directed to conduct Social Audits of PM POSHAN in their respective jurisdictions at least twice every month to ensure transparency and effective implementation of the scheme.
The meeting also discussed strengthening teacher education, wherein DIETs were advised to submit proposals regarding inclusion and enhancement of D.El.Ed. courses for Primary Level Teachers to improve professional capacity building.
Further, the Chief Education Officers were instructed to obtain certificates from Heads of Institutions regarding students opting out of industrial placements under Vocational Education due to preference for higher studies. Emphasis was also laid on proper utilization of funds available under exposure visits and guest lectures.
The Principals of DIET Leh and Kargil were requested to share research papers and academic studies conducted by their institutions with the Directorate for policy reference and academic inputs.
Special emphasis was also placed on imparting moral education among students and ensuring effective implementation of Swachh Abhiyan activities in all schools across the Union Territory.
The meeting concluded with directions to all concerned officers for timely compliance and effective implementation of the decisions taken.
