    District Child Protection Unit, Kargil Organizes Comprehensive Awareness Program on Child Rights and Protection.
    Kargil, September 18, 2025: District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Kargil, in collaboration with Government Higher Secondary School, Pashkum, successfully organized a comprehensive awareness program on critical child rights issues and protection. The event, held at Government Higher Secondary School, Pashkum, aimed to educate students, teachers, and the community about the importance of protecting children from exploitation and abuse.
    The program covered various topics, including the Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act 2015, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act 2012, Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act of 1986, Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006, Child Helpline 1098/112, and Tele-Manas services 14416.
    Resource persons from the DCPU and Child Welfare Committee delivered detailed presentations and discussions on these topics, highlighting the importance of protecting children’s rights and preventing exploitation.
    Advocate Mohammad Ali, LCPO, DCPU, presented a detailed presentation on the POCSO Act 2012, emphasizing the need to protect children from sexual abuse and exploitation.
    Gh. Hasnain, Manager, Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA), spoke on the Adoption Regulations 2022, highlighting the importance of adoption in providing a stable and loving environment for children.
    Ishey Namgyal, Principal, Government Higher Secondary School, Pashkum, spoke on the Juvenile Justice Act 2015, emphasizing the need to provide care and protection to children in need.
    Niyaz Ali, Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee, Kargil, presented a comprehensive overview of the JJ Act, Mission Vatsalya Schemes, Sponsorship (Non-Institutional), Institutional Services, Child Helpline 1098/112, and Tele-Manas 14416 services. He stressed the importance of children in building the nation and society and urged participants to help distressed, destitute, and orphaned children.
    The program was attended by students and staff from Government Higher Secondary School, Pashkum; Government Girls High School, Pashkum; Government High School, Lotsum; and Government High School, Tacha. The event concluded with a vote of thanks and appreciation for the active participation of all attendees.
