District Police Kargil Organises Sports Event to Inspire Youth and Combat Drug Abuse.
Kargil, June 16, 2026: District Police Kargil on Tuesday organised the final match of a football tournament held under the Civic Action Programme 2026, aimed at promoting sports among youth and encouraging a healthy lifestyle. The event was conducted at Biamathang Playfield in Kargil.
The championship featured competitions in Archery, Badminton, Football and Volleyball, with enthusiastic participation from youth across the district. The volleyball tournament witnessed participation from 36 men’s teams and 12 women’s teams, making it one of the major sporting events held under the programme.
In the women’s volleyball final, Rinchen Kargil faced Ladakh Volleyball Association and emerged victorious to clinch the championship title. The men’s final was played between TRP and Skarchen Latoo, with TRP securing the championship after a spirited contest.
Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, was the chief guest on the occasion. Director Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh, Tahir Hussain Zubdawi, DySP Anayatullah, DySP DAR Tundup Dorjay, along with officials of Ladakh Police and the Department of Youth Services and Sports, were also present.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner, Kargil congratulated both the winning and runner-up teams for their outstanding performances throughout the tournament. He appreciated the efforts of District Police Kargil for organising such events under the Civic Action Programme and providing a platform for youth to showcase their sporting talent.
He stated that such tournaments play an important role in motivating young people towards sports and constructive activities while helping curb the menace of drug abuse. The Deputy Commissioner thanked the police department, organisers and all participating teams for their active involvement and contribution to the success of the event.
The programme concluded with the distribution of trophies and prizes among the winners and participants.
