    Leh, 15 September, 2026: Divisional Commissioner, IAS officer Shri Shurbir Singh, along with Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shri Romil Singh Donk, IAS, and Tehsildar Leh, Shri Mohd. Shabir, held a meeting with Village Nambardars to deliberate on various issues and developmental concerns raised by the village representatives.
    During the meeting, the Nambardars apprised the officers of various longstanding issues concerning land allotment and settlement, land premiums, residential land, and other land-related matters. Concerns regarding the ongoing railway survey and its potential impact on residential areas, agricultural land and existing allotments were also raised.
    The Nambardars further highlighted issues related to flooding, protection of nalas, drainage and water management, particularly in vulnerable areas. The need for timely intervention and strengthening of flood protection measures was emphasised.
    Issues pertaining to Jal Jeevan Mission, including inadequate water supply, pipeline-related problems and maintenance of water infrastructure, were also discussed. The village representatives sought necessary measures for ensuring regular and reliable drinking water supply.
    The meeting also covered concerns relating to road connectivity, bridges, community/committee halls, agricultural and pasture land, digital land settlement and other developmental works. The Nambardars also raised concerns regarding developmental projects affecting village land and requested that local concerns be duly considered before undertaking such works.
    The Nambardars also submitted a memorandum containing various demands and issues requiring the attention of the administration. Shri Shurbir Singh gave a patient hearing to the issues and grievances. He assured the village representatives that the issues raised would be duly examined in consultation with the concerned departments and appropriate measures undertaken for their redressal. He further directed the concerned officers to examine the matters falling within their respective jurisdictions and take necessary action on priority.
    The meeting concluded with an emphasis on strengthening coordination between the administration and village representatives for effective redressal of public grievances and expeditious resolution of developmental issues.
