E-YUVA Orientation Programme Organised at KVK Kargil to Promote Innovation and Entrepreneurship Among Students.
Kargil, September 24, 2026: SKUAST-K Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship Centre (SKIIE), in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kargil, University of Ladakh, organised a one-day E-YUVA Orientation Programme at KVK Kargil. The programme was graced by Hon’ble Councillor Shri Manzoor Hussain as the Chief Guest and Mrs. Parveen Akhter, an IARI Innovative Awardee, as the Guest of Honour. A large number of students from Government Degree College, Kargil, participated in the programme.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Rizwan Jeelani, E-YUVA Coordinator, who warmly welcomed all the participants and expressed his appreciation for their enthusiastic presence. The welcome address was followed by a brief introduction to the programme by Dr. Naveed Hamid, Chief Coordinator-cum-CEO, SKIIE. He highlighted the objectives of the workshop and stated that E-YUVA aims to empower young minds by nurturing innovative ideas and promoting a culture of research and innovation.
While speaking about the incentives provided to young fellows, Dr. Hamid informed the participants that E-YUVA provides fellowships and financial support at different levels. Undergraduate fellows receive a fellowship of ₹7,500 per quarter, along with an annual grant of ₹2.5 lakh. For postgraduate students, the programme provides a monthly fellowship of ₹30,000 and an annual grant of ₹3 lakh. For postdoctoral fellows, the fellowship is ₹50,000 per month, along with an annual grant of ₹5 lakh.
Dr. Nasreen Fatima, Head, KVK Kargil, expressed her gratitude to SKIIE, SKUAST-K, for organising the workshop for the benefit of the younger generation. Highlighting the achievements of KVK Kargil in the field of innovation, she stated that the KVK has developed several innovative technologies, including the management of onion maggot infestation using apricot oil cake and the cultivation of oyster mushrooms using different substrates. She further emphasised that, on several occasions, small ideas can lead to significant innovations and urged the students to develop their ideas and translate them into practical actions.
The Chief Guest, Hon’ble Councillor Shri Manzoor Hussain, appreciated the achievements of SKIIE, SKUAST-K, in nurturing and mentoring young minds. He encouraged the students to strive hard to redesign traditional technologies and make them more efficient, productive and relevant to contemporary needs.
Dr. Mansoor Hussain, Scientist (Agricultural Economics), KVK Kargil, delivered the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to the dignitaries, experts, organisers and participating students for making the programme successful.
Thereafter, the technical sessions commenced with presentations delivered by experts, who provided the participants with insights into innovation, entrepreneurship, research opportunities and the various avenues available under the E-YUVA programme.
