EC Mubarak Shah visits flood-affected areas at Sangrah, Khawos

KARGIL, JULY 27, 2022: Executive Councillor for Works, LAHDC, Kargil Mubarak Shah Naqvi today visited flood-affected areas at Sangrah and Khawos.
Former Executive Councillor Syed Abbas Razvi and Councilor Tai Suru, Councilor Sankoo Syed Ahmad Razvi, Councilor Thasgam Abdul Rahim, Councilor Parkachik Haji Ghulam Mohammad, Sub Divisional Magistrate Sankoo Muhammad Hanief, Executive Engineer Mechanical, Muhammad Hassan, Executive Engineer Public Health Engineering Muhammad Hassan, Chief Education Officer Kargil Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, besides other concerned officers, PRI members of flood-affected areas accompanied the EC during the visit.
The EC visited the flood-affected areas, where the PRI members and village representatives informed that due to flash flood, debris has accumulated causing damage of Irrigation khuls, trees and land.
The EC said that temporary measures will be taken to clear the debris and clean the canal. He directed the SDM to demarcate land of canal trailing at Sangrah and Khawos area of Taisuru.
The EC also directed the SDM to identify the land for mechanical machines parking to ensure the availability of machines in all-weather season.
Shah also directed NHIDCL Kargil to demolish the culvert on Kargil-Zanskar national highway at Sangrah.
The villagers informed the EC that there is an immediate need for protection bund at Sangrah and Khawos, restoration of irrigation khuls, deployment of machinery for land development and rehabilitation of the displaced families.
The EC after giving a patient hearing to all issues said that immediate steps will be taken by the administration to address the grievances as early as possible.
Meanwhile, the EC also held a detailed meeting at Dak Bungalow Sankoo with the concerned officials to review the present rehabilitation and restoration works in Suru area and directed the concerned officers to address public issues on priority.
He also appreciated the officers and officials of concerned departments for their role in the relief and rehabilitation measures of the affected population at such a crucial juncture.
