EC Phunchok Tashi Tours Zanskar’s Cha Block, Inaugurates Projects Worth ₹3.65 Cr.
Zanskar, November 9, 2025: Executive Councillor (EC) Er. Phunchok Tashi of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil, concluded a comprehensive tour of the Cha Block in Zanskar to inspect developmental works, inaugurate new facilities, and interact with the local community.
EC Tashi laid the foundation stone for a new building at Government High School, Thangso. The project is sanctioned at an estimated cost of ₹1.98 Crore under the District Capex Budget and will be executed by the R&B Division, Zanskar. He also awarded ₹10,000 to the students of Thangso School for their outstanding academic performance during the annual day function.
The EC inaugurated a newly constructed block of four-set staff quarters at the New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) in Cha. The facility, built by the R&B Division Zanskar at an estimated cost of ₹1.67 Crore, will accommodate healthcare staff in the region.
EC Tashi inspected the ongoing Phuktal Shaday Link Road construction, directing officials to expedite its timely completion.
He visited the 126 RCC Border Roads Organisation (BRO) at Cha to acknowledge their “tremendous achievement” in macadamizing 32 KM of the strategic Padum-Darcha Link Road this year.
The EC inspected the Raru Mini Hydel Project repair works. Officials from KREDA Kargil indicated the repairs would take approximately one more week.
The EC met with monks from Phuktal Gonpa who sought to expedite administrative approval for their approved works. The EC Zanskar Development Authority (ZDA) informed that two projects—a meditation center/guest house for Phuktal Gonpa (₹2.49 Cr) and courtyard expansion for Barden Gonpa (₹2.40 Cr)—are currently in the tendering process under ZDA.
The events were attended by local dignitaries, including NT Cha Sh. Mohd Jan, BDO Zanskar Sh. Ali Yabgo, Executive Engineer ZDA/R&B Vilayat Ali, and ZEPO Zanskar Sh. Tsewang Dorjay, among other concerned officials.
