EC Yakzee inaugurates Sheep Husbandry Dept’s Pelleted Cattle Feed Making Unit at Upshi

Leh, Oct 15: Executive Councillor, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, inaugurated the Pelleted Cattle Feed Making Unit of the Sheep Husbandry Department funded under the Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) by CWDB Jodhpur, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India (GoI), at Pashmina Goat Farm in Upshi. Executive Councillor (EC), LAHDC Leh, Tashi Namgyal Yakzee; Councillor, Nyoma, Tashi Spalzang; Councillor, Korzok, Karma Namdak; District Sheep Husbandry Officer (DSHO) Leh, Dr Tundup Namgyal; Deputy Director, Dr Tsewang Morup; Deputy Registrar Cooperative, Dr Mohd Abbas and officials from the Department were present in the event.
DSHO Leh Dr Tundup Namgyal briefed about the importance and functioning of the feed pelleting unit as a feed supplement for the livestock to combat the nutritional crisis in the winter. He informed that the Feed Pelleting Unit has an efficiency of two tonnes per hour and local agricultural by-products could be utilised as raw material for the final pellet product.
