    The Government Degree College (GDC) Zanskar formally commenced class work at the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) Centre established within the college campus, marking a significant milestone in enhancing digital and technical education opportunities for the students of the region.
    The programme began with a brief introduction by Dr. Jamphel Sheyan, Assistant Professor, English, who highlighted the objectives and significance of the NIELIT course. He emphasized the growing significance of computer literacy and digital skills in the contemporary recruitments and encouraged students to take full advantage of the opportunities provided through the programme to enhance their employability and professional prospects.
    Addressing the gathering, Dr. Amjad Ali Abassi, Principal, GDC Zanskar, elaborated on the importance of the NIELIT Centre and the efforts undertaken by the college administration to establish such a vital facility in the region. He underscored the transformative role of digital education in empowering youth and stated that the establishment of the centre would greatly benefit students by providing access to quality computer education closer to their homes. The Principal also thanked the Secretary, Higher Education Department, UT Ladakh, the Director, NIELIT Leh, and the civil society of Zanskar for their invaluable support and cooperation in the establishment of the Centre.
    Dr. Abassi urged the students of Zanskar to enroll in the course and make optimum use of the facility. He described the centre as a pivotal platform for students to gain knowledge of information technology and explore the diverse career opportunities available in the digital sector. He further requested the NIELIT faculty members to impart training with dedication, enthusiasm, and professionalism, while ensuring the timely conduct of classes, assignments, and practical sessions. He also encouraged students to make effective use of the various facilities available in the college, including the library, sports infrastructure, and gymnasium, for their overall academic and personal development.
    Ms. Nima Dolma, Faculty Member, NIELIT, also addressed the students and informed them that the classes had officially commenced from the day of the programme and would continue regularly from the following day. She urged more students to participate actively and maintain regular attendance to successfully complete the programme and obtain certification. Assuring the students of the faculty’s commitment, she stated that the NIELIT staff would put forth their utmost efforts to provide quality instruction and practical training. She encouraged students to seize this valuable opportunity for skill development and career advancement.
    The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Jamphel Sheyan, who expressed gratitude to the college administration, NIELIT faculty, and students for their participation and support in making the programme a success.
