Enterprising Ladakh Concludes Three-Day Entrepreneurship Awareness Program at ITI Kargil to Inspire Youth Entrepreneurship.
Kargil, July 16, 2025 – The Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, successfully concluded a three-day Entrepreneurship Awareness Program (EAP) today at the Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Kargil. The program ran from July 14 to July 16, 2025.
The initiative is being implemented by EDII, Ahmedabad, under the leadership of the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, the Chief Secretary Dr. Pawan Kotwal, and the Secretary of Higher/Technical Education and Skill Development, Smt. Bhanu Prabha, IAS. It is envisioned by Dr. Sunil Shukla, Director General, EDII, and Dr. Amit Kumar Dwivedi, Director – Projects (Government), EDII.
Aimed at empowering Ladakh’s youth through innovation, enterprise, and skill development, the EAP introduced participants to key aspects of entrepreneurship, including ideation, business planning, and financial literacy. Sessions were conducted by a diverse panel of expert mentors, local entrepreneurs, subject specialists, and EDII faculty members / resource persons.
On Day 1, Mr. Abhishake Nandan, Ms. Padma Lhazes, and Ms. Fariha Fatima from EDII Ahmedabad conducted sessions on entrepreneurship fundamentals, innovation, and startup development.
On Day 2, Mr. Sayed Hadi led an insightful session on “Opportunities and Challenges in the Handloom Sector,” urging students to view traditional crafts through a business lens. Ms. Fariha Fatima held an intensive workshop on branding and sustainable packaging.
The day also featured a “Startup Quiz” led by Ms. Padma Lhazes, sparking competition and testing participants’ knowledge and ideas.
On Day 3, Mr. Mudassir Rauf Wani, Functional Manager at DIC Kargil, conducted a session on government schemes such as PMEGP and PMFME.
Local entrepreneur Ms. Praveen Akhtar interacted with participants, sharing insights into her food processing and soap-making business.
Throughout the program, students had the opportunity to present their business ideas. Ms. Sajida Bano, Mr. Hamid, and Ms. Zakia Bano from ITI were felicitated for their innovative proposals by the mentor panel.
The In-charge Superintendent of ITI Kargil, Ms. Hajira Bano, and Nodal Officer Ms. Shahr Bano congratulated the students and encouraged them to consider entrepreneurship as a viable career path.
