Zanskar, November 6, 2025: In a significant step towards rural upliftment and community welfare, Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil, Er. Phunchok Tashi today inaugurated newly constructed Community Halls at Phay by RDD, Tungri by PWD R&B and Langmi villages by RDD. The projects were executed under the leadership of Sh Stanzin Jigmath, Honble Councilor and Er Tashi EC Zanskar as part of inclusive development across the region.
These community halls, designed to serve as vital spaces for social gatherings, meetings, and cultural programs, were completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 80.00 lakh for Phay, Rs. 1.50 crore for Tungri, and Rs. 1.63 crore for Langmi. The inauguration marks another milestone in Stanzin Jigmath and Er. Phunchok Tashi’s commitment to grassroots development and empowerment of rural communities.
The ceremonies witnessed the presence of Councillor Stanzin Jigmath, BDO Zanskar Sh. Ali Yabgo, Executive Engineer ZDA/R&B Er. Vilayat Ali, AEE REW madam Samina Ali and JE concerned, village Lambardars, party working members, and a large gathering of local residents and monks who came together to celebrate the occasion.
During his address, Hon’ble EC Er. Phunchok Tashi expressed deep satisfaction over the completion of the three community halls, emphasizing that these infrastructures will play a key role in promoting unity, cultural exchange, and social harmony among the villagers. He reiterated that such developmental initiatives reflect the commitment of LAHDC Kargil and the UT Administration to strengthen public amenities and ensure balanced growth in every corner of Zanskar.
He further appealed to the people of Phay, Tungri, and Langmi to take collective responsibility for maintaining these public assets, ensuring their proper use and preservation for future generations.
Speaking at the event, Councillor Stanzin Jigmed commended the tireless efforts of Hon’ble EC Er. Phunchok Tashi and remarked that the successful completion of these projects was possible due to the strong collaboration between the public representatives in LAHDC Kargil who worked hand in hand.
