Zanskar, July 08, 2025 – In a significant move to monitor the progress of various ongoing developmental projects and to initiate newly approved works, Hon’ble Executive Councilor for RDD/PRI and Zanskar Development Authority, LAHDC Kargil, Er. Punchok Tashi conducted an extensive on-site visit to Zangla village, Padum, Nunnery, and Junhkore on Tuesday.
During the visit, Er. Tashi inspected key development sites including the Padum Lakhang area, the link road at Junhkore, and the courtyard expansion and upgradation works at Zangla Palace (Khar).
He directed the engineers of the R&B Department to expedite the construction of the Junhkore link road while ensuring adherence to proper specifications. He also instructed the Zanskar Development Authority (ZDA) to complete the pending works at the Buddha Park near the Nunnery, including the construction of the main gate.
Further, he emphasized the timely completion of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the approved Zangla link road under the District Capex budget and directed the concerned departments to invite tenders for the construction of the Multi-Utility Hall at Zangla, also sanctioned under the District Capex.
During his interaction at the Zangla Nunnery, the resident nuns requested financial assistance for CGI sheet roofing of their main assembly hall to prevent leakage during rainfall. The Hon’ble EC assured them of necessary support and action in this regard.
Er. Punchok Tashi and the team of accompanying engineers received a warm welcome from the nuns and the royal family at Zangla Khar, reflecting deep community appreciation for the ongoing developmental efforts.
