Excise team raided and recovered illicit liquor consisting of 245 cans of beer from a general store and residential house located in Khaltsi Market.

Based on specific information, during the night of 21 September 2024, Excise Team headed by Excise Inspector, Excise Range, Leh-Kargil, Zulfikar Ali, assisted by Sub-Inspector Mohd Taqi, Sub-Inspector Stanzin Gaychet, Excise Guard Mohd Mussa and Stanzin Skaldan raided a general store and residential house located in Khaltsi Market. Both the premises were owned by a single person who is a resident of Khaltsi, Leh, Ladakh. Search was conducted in presence of the Nambardar and the member of Khaltsi. During the course of action, the team recovered illicit liquor consisting of 245 cans of beer from his possession. The person was booked u/s 48(a) of the J & K Excise Act, 1958 and complaint was registered against the accused in Excise Office Excise Range, Leh-Kargil. Similarly, acting on another tip off, the team searched a residential house in Garkon Village of Kargil District in presence of Nambardar and a member of village committee. The residential house belonged to a lady, who was resident of Garkon Village. During the search, the Excise Team recovered illicit liquor consisting of 491 bottles of IMFL and 16 cans of beer from her possession. The lady was booked under section 48(a) of the J & K Excise Act, 1958 and complaint was registered against the accused in Excise Office Excise Range, Leh-Kargil. Further investigation in both the cases is going on under the J & K Excise Act, 1958.
