    Leh, February 06, 2026: SAS&T, UoL Stakna campus in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Nyoma organized an exposure tour on 5 February 2026 under the MIDH project for 22 farmers from Rong villages (Nee, Kesser, Srhayul, Hemya, Liktse, Tukla and Phulak) under the guidance of Dr. Phuntsog Tundup, Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Nyoma, who is also the Principal Investigator of the project along with Dr. Sonam Spaldon, Scientist, SAS&T, UoL.
    The exposure visit aimed to enhance farmers’ knowledge of advanced and location-specific agricultural technologies suited to Ladakh high-altitude cold-arid conditions, particularly protected cultivation.
    The farmers visited the Precision Farming Development Centre (PFDC), where different greenhouse structures suitable for Ladakh, including low tunnel technology for winter vegetable cultivation, were demonstrated along with leafy vegetable varieties and crop calendar planning.
    The group also visited the Defence Institute of High Altitude Research (DIHAR), where innovative practices such as hydroponics, precision irrigation and protected cultivation models for cold desert regions were explained.
    Thereafter, the farmers interacted with Smt. Yangchan Palajora, a progressive farmer of Saboo village, and also a State Awardee 2025, Ass Pee LM Patel Award and ICAR awardee in the field of Agriculture. She shared her experiences and demonstrated successful greenhouse models and high-value crops.
    The exposure tour strengthened farmer-to-farmer interaction and encouraged adoption of scientific interventions to enhance productivity and income under MIDH.
