Leh, February 13, 2024: The Advisor to Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, UT Ladakh, Dr. Pawan Kotwal presided over the 11th meeting of the Union Territory Level Bankers Committee (UTLBC) of Ladakh for the quarter ending of September and December 2024.
At the outset, the Assistant General Manager, State Bank of India, Convenor UTLBC of UT Ladakh, Tsering Morup gave a detailed presentation about the achievements of banks under various schemes up to the quarter ended up to September and December 2024.
He informed the Chairman under Priority Sector Advances, banks achieved 98% of the annual credit target, disbursing Rs. 907.24 crore, with overall achievement, banks achieved 115% of the target, disbursing Rs. 2162.9 crore under priority and non-priority sector advances. In terms of deposits Growth, total deposits grew by 13% year-on-year, reaching Rs. 9682.89 crore as of December 31, 2024.
In terms of credit growth, he highlighted that total credit grew by 8% year-on-year, reaching Rs. 4520.49 crore as of December 31, 2024. During the meeting, it was informed that the overall CD Ratio of UT Ladakh stood at 46.69% for the quarter ended December 31, 2024.
Highlighting the importance of vibrant villages, the Advisor instructed the concerned officials to open banking outlets in the respective allotted villages to the respective bank by March 2025.
The Advisor directed all the banks to extend loans under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and cover the whole of Leh city by November 2025. He further stated that all the banks to start driving of solar rooftop scheme in Ladakh so that more people of Ladakh can avail the facility which is viable in UT Ladakh.
The Chairperson directed that the PM Vishwakarma scheme should be more publicized and sensitized about the scheme as the same is well designed by the Government of India. He also directed all banks to sanction the loan and clear the pendency.
He directed all the banks to cover all eligible loans under the Credit Guarantee Fund Scheme and not resort to insisting on collateral security. The scheme should be implemented by all the banks, as early as possible. The Chairperson directed major banks like SBI, J&K Bank, and Punjab National Bank of UT Ladakh to cover all the eligible beneficiaries under social security schemes like PMJJBY and PMSBY.
The meeting was attended by the Principal Secretary of UT Ladakh Sanjeev Khirwar; the Administrative Secretary of PDD UT Ladakh Vikram Singh; the Administrative Secretary of Agriculture UT Ladakh, Bhupesh Chaudhary; Administrative Secretary of Information Technology, Shashanka Ala; District Magistrate Leh Santosh Sukhdeve; Neeraj Kumar, General Manager, Reserve Bank of India, Jammu; Vikas Mittal, GM, NABARD Jammu; Ravindra Kumar Gupta (DGM) (B&O) SBI and other concerned bank officials. District Magistrate Kargil Shrikant Balasabheb Suse joined the meeting virtually. Rajeev Kumar Chhabra, Regional Manager, SBI, concluded the meeting with a vote of thanks to all the dignitaries and other participants from line departments and banks.
