Fisheries Dept Leh celebrates World Fisheries Day

Leh, Nov 21: World Fisheries Day was celebrated with great fervour and enthusiasm in Leh district organised by the Fisheries Department, Leh.
A function in this regard was organised at Fish Farm Chuchot Shamma, Leh where Secretary, Animal/Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries, UT Ladakh, Ravinder Kumar presided as the chief guest.
Assistant Director, Fisheries Department, Leh, Mohammad Ameen; Officer on Special Duty (OSD), ASH & Fisheries, Dr Tara Chand; Muzaffar Hussain; OSD Dr Stanzin Thakchos were present along with several fish farmers; PRI members and concerned departmental officials.
Secretary Ravinder Kumar stressed the significance of Fisheries Day and congratulated the fisheries fraternity. Emphasising the huge potential of the fisheries sector, the Secretary encouraged and urged the farmers and, especially the youths to vigorously participate in raising fish units.
He also gave a patient hearing to the issues raised by the farmers and instructed the concerned officers to resolve them at the earliest.
AD Fisheries, Mohammad Ameen, gave a detailed description of the work and achievements of the department.
Later, Secretary Ravinder Kumar visited various private fish units in Chuchot and expressed his satisfaction with their work and progress.
