    Leh, July 24, 2025: The Deputy Commissioner Leh, Romil Singh Donk (IAS), chaired an urgent review meeting with representative of Project 753 BRO at the VC Room, DC Office, Leh on 24th July, 2025, in response to severe road blockages caused by flash floods and mudslides in parts of Shayok Valley, that connects Nubra valley to Durbuk.
    BRO officials presented visuals from the affected sites, highlighting the gravity of situation. It was informed that in some areas, roads are submerged under 2–3 meters of mud, rendering them completely impassable. The team also informed that it would take a few weeks to restore connectivity, depending on weather conditions and on-ground feasibility.
    DC Leh directed BRO to mobilize necessary machinery and personnel to the affected sites without delay. He also instructed that a detailed report, including tentative timelines for the restoration of each road section, must be submitted by the end of the day.
    Further, DC Leh emphasized the need for continuous coordination between SDMs of Nubra and Durbuk to keep the district administration updated on progress and challenges. He also stated that the involvement of the Disaster Management Department may be considered for timely and effective mitigation.
    The meeting was attended by Officers of BRO. SDMs of Nubra and Durbuk sub division also joined the meeting virtually.
