Forest Range Office Khaltse Conducts Enforcement Drive Against Banned Single-Use Plastics at Hemishukpachan, Uleytokpo and Saspol.
Khaltse, July 13, 2026: In compliance with the directions of the UT Administration and under the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner, Sham, Smt. Kunzes Angmo (JKAS), the Forest Range Office, Khaltse, conducted a special enforcement drive against banned single-use plastic (SUP) items in the market areas of Hemishukpachan, Uleytokpo and Saspol on July 11, 2026.
The enforcement drive was carried out by officials of the Forest Department to ensure the effective implementation of the ban on single-use plastics. During the drive, inspections were conducted at various general stores and restaurant establishments to check the use, sale, storage and distribution of banned single-use plastic items.
The enforcement team also conducted an awareness campaign among shopkeepers and restaurant owners, sensitising them about the harmful effects of single-use plastics on the environment and the importance of complying with the prescribed regulations.
Forest officials directed all wholesalers, shopkeepers and restaurant owners not to sell, store or distribute banned single-use plastic items. They further warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found violating the ban during future inspections.
The officials of the Forest Department appealed to the public, traders and business establishments to extend their full cooperation in eliminating single-use plastics and to adopt environmentally friendly alternatives for a cleaner and greener Ladakh.
