Former MLA Nubra calls on Hon’ble Lt Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd).

Leh, March 12, 2025: Former MLA from Nubra, Deldan Namgyal called on the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd), at the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat. Chief Secretary, Dr Pawan Kotwal, IAS; Secretary, Tourism and Culture, Vikram Singh Malik, IAS; Secretary, Education, Bhanu Prabha, IAS and Chief Engineer, PWD, Mutalib were present in the meeting.
Deldan Namgyal apprised the HLG of the proposed construction of a pilgrimage gathering hall at Kobet monastery for tourists and pilgrims by the Tourism Department under SDP 2024-25 at an estimated cost of Rs 5.20 crores for which the detailed project report (DPR) has already been prepared. He also informed the HLG about the ceiling for the project which has been capped at Rs 2 crores, which, he alleged, would hamper the progress of the project. He requested the HLG’s intervention in this regard and asked him to provide the Accord of Administrative Approval (AAA) for the said project.
Deldan Namgyal also raised the need for the early construction of Shatse bridge under Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) to improve connectivity for people residing in villages on the other side of Shayok River from Diskit headquarter such as Barma to Yarma Gonbo, Kobet and the entire Siachen belt. He informed the HLG that the construction of the said bridge would greatly reduce the distance from the headquarter. He requested the HLG’s intervention in taking up the matter with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) Government of India.
The HLG stated that the UT Administration would take up the proposed project for the construction of the pilgrimage gathering centre with LAHDC Leh and ask them to prioritise projects to be taken up under SDP for the financial year 2025-26. Emphasising that the UT Administration has to look at the holistic development of each area of UT Ladakh, the HLG said the UT Administration would also look at the DPR and make necessary decisions accordingly. Regarding the Shatse bridge, the HLG, emphasising the need to complete the bridge construction at the earliest, asked the Secretary PWD to meet the concerned officials at MoRTH GoI to expedite the case.
