    GDC Drass commemorates indispensable role of civilians during Kargil War.

    Kargil, July 27, 2023: GDC Drass hosted a special talk titled “Kargil War and the Indispensible Role of Civilians.” The event paid tribute to the brave civilians who stood as pillars of strength alongside the valiant soldiers during the Kargil War of 1999.
    The program commenced with a warm welcome address by Principal GDC Drass, Amjad Ali Abbasi, who eloquently highlighted the extraordinary valor and unwavering commitment exhibited by civilians during the Kargil War.
    Keynote speaker Khurshid Ahmad, Principal of Govt. Higher Secondary School Drass, shared riveting first-hand accounts and personal experiences, offering a glimpse into the challenges faced and the immense courage displayed by civilians in various capacities during the Kargil War. He emphasized that the pivotal role played by civilians, who are essentially soldiers without uniforms.
    The event provided an engaging platform for students and faculty to participate in a thought-provoking question and answer session, stimulating in-depth discussions on the subject matter.
    In the closing remarks, it was announced that the Department of Political Science at GDC Drass would take the initiative to gather firsthand information related to the participation of civilians in the Kargil War. This valuable data will be meticulously documented and presented at the upcoming Ladakh Education Fair.
