    Drass, June 19, 2025 — The Government Degree College (GDC), Drass hosted a vibrant and rich cultural programme organised by Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Kargil in collaboration with the North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala (NZCC), celebrating the rich artistic heritage and diverse traditions of the north region of India under Sanskritik Yatra-Sindhu Darshan festival from June 13 -29, 2025.
    The event, held at the college campus witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of the college and schools, faculty, and members of the local community. The programme featured a series of captivating performances, including folk dances and regional music showcasing the unique cultural mosaic of Kargil, Leh and the broader northern region.
    The event commenced with the welcome of guests Sh. Ravinder Sharma (A.D NZCC), Jagjit Singh (Office Secretary NZCC) and Principal GDC Drass with traditional khataqs by Programme Coordinator Ladakh Culture Academy Kargil, Tsewang Rigzin.
    A key highlight of the programme was the performance by invited artists from across the northern states, such as Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh who mesmerized the audience with their authentic representations of local folklore and music. The artists presented a blend of traditional and contemporary cultural performances that were widely appreciated.
    The collaborative event was part of a broader initiative to strengthen cultural education, promote regional heritage, and encourage student participation in the performing arts. The North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, has been actively promoting such programmes across educational institutions to ensure cultural continuity and creative exposure for the younger generation.
    The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr Amin Polo, Chairman Himalayan Sports and Cultural DevelopmentOrganisationThe overwhelming response from attendees underscored the need for more such cultural exchanges and reaffirmed the role of educational institutions as vibrant centers of cultural revival.
