GDC Drass in collaboration with Indian Army Conduct Two-Day Rock Climbing & Rappelling Session to Boost Mountaineering Skills.
Drass, May 29, 2025: Students from the High-Altitude Trekking Guide Course and the Department of Physical Education & Sports, Government Degree College (GDC), Drass, successfully participated in a two-day Rock Climbing and Rappelling session held from May 28 to 29.
The outdoor activity, organized by the Indian Army in collaboration with GDC Drass, took place at the rugged cliffs near Drass and aimed to enhance physical fitness, team spirit, and core mountaineering skills.
The Indian Army extended full support to the event by providing professional-grade equipment and technical assistance, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment for the students.
Coordinated by Mr. Suhail Ahmad Bhat, High-Altitude Trekking Guide Instructor, the session offered students hands-on training in climbing techniques, rappelling methods, and safety procedures. Mr Mohd Hassan, Incharge Principal, GDC Drass, praised the initiative, noting its role in preparing students for careers in high-altitude adventure professions.
Mr. Suhail Ahmad Bhat emphasized that navigating vertical terrain builds safety awareness and teamwork, while Mr. Mohd Yassin, Director of Physical Education and Sports, highlighted the importance of such experiences in promoting endurance and interest in adventure sports.
Students described the experience as both challenging and rewarding. Through such collaborative efforts, GDC Drass and the Indian Army continue to foster practical skill development and leadership in the field of adventure tourism.
