Kargil, March 07, 2026: Government Degree College (GDC) Kargil, in partnership with Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), organized the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026 at the college premises. This initiative, aligned with the national vision of Viksit Bharat@2047, provided a dynamic platform for young voices to engage in deliberations on key national issues, foster leadership skills, civic participation, and contribute ideas toward building a developed India.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 60 young participants, who showcased their oratory skills, policy insights, and passion for nation-building through structured parliamentary-style discussions.
Mr. Mohd Sajjad Khan, Councillor of Saliskot-Faroona, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. His presence inspired the youth, as he emphasized the importance of active youth involvement in shaping India’s future and commended the participants for their thoughtful contributions.
Ms. Jigmet Spaldon attended as the Special Guest, offering valuable perspectives and encouragement to the emerging leaders.
Disket Angmo, Principal of GDC Kargil, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, participants, organizers, and collaborators for making the event a resounding success. She highlighted the role of such programs in empowering the youth of Ladakh to become proactive contributors to national development.
Sayed Mustafa Kamal, NSS Program Officer at GDC Kargil, served as the chief organizer of the event. Under his leadership, the program was conducted seamlessly, reflecting the strong commitment of the NSS unit and the college to youth engagement initiatives.
As part of the multi-level structure of the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament—implemented nationwide through MY Bharat—the event culminated in the selection of the top 5 performers. These outstanding participants have been chosen to represent the region at the State Level competition in Leh, advancing toward higher rounds and the opportunity to contribute to national dialogues.
