GDC Kargil Organises Badminton Final and Faculty Volleyball Tournament to Mark National Sports Day.
Kargil, August 29, 2026: As part of Sports Week, a series of sporting events to commemorate National Sports Day, Government Degree College Kargil, in collaboration with SAI State Training Centre Kargil, organised a Faculty Volleyball Tournament today.
The tournament was participated by two teams from GDC Kargil and a team from SAI centre Kargil. The GDC Kargil Blue Team emerged as the winner, defeating the GDC Kargil Red Team and SAI Volleyball Team.
The event was organised under the leadership of Principal Dr. Amjad Ali Abassi. Dr. Mohd. Ishaq, Senior Faculty Member, was the Chief Guest, while Mr. Ghulam Mustafa, In-charge SAI State Training Centre Kargil, was the Guest of Honour. The Chief Guest also inaugurated the women’s singles and doubles badminton finals.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Mustafa Ali, DPE&S, who highlighted the significance of National Sports Day and the importance of sports in promoting fitness, discipline and teamwork. Khairun Nissa and Umul Banin, students of Semester first semester, delivered speeches on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ghulam Mustafa stressed the importance of sports and encouraged students to actively participate in different sporting activities. Dr. Mohd. Ishaq emphasised the need for optimum utilisation of the available sports infrastructure at the college and appreciated SAI Kargil for its valuable contribution and continued collaboration in promoting sports.
The programme was moderated by Sakina Mehak, student of 5th Semester, while Mr. Sajjad Hussain, Assistant Professor, Co-Convenor Sports, presented the vote of thanks. Medals and certificates were distributed among the finalists of the badminton events.
