GDC Kargil, Sankoo Campus students undertake exposure visit to Incubation Centre, Kargil.
Kargil, August 29, 2026: An exposure visit to the Incubation Centre (Co-Working Space), Kargil, was organised for the 5th Semester students of Government Degree College (GDC) Kargil, Sankoo Campus, with the objective of providing practical exposure to entrepreneurship, startups, self-employment, MSMEs and various Government support schemes.
During the visit, the students interacted with officials and representatives from various departments, including Fisheries, Horticulture, Handicrafts and Handloom, Rural Development, and Industries. The departmental representatives briefed the students about various Government schemes, eligibility criteria, procedures for establishing enterprises, and the support and benefits available to aspiring entrepreneurs.
As part of the exposure visit, the students also visited manufacturing and packaging units, where they observed production processes, machinery, packaging practices and other aspects of actual business operations.
The students were encouraged to explore and avail themselves of available Government schemes, institutional support and entrepreneurial opportunities to develop their own ventures and create sustainable livelihood opportunities.
The visit encouraged the students to look beyond conventional employment avenues and explore entrepreneurship and local economic opportunities. It also helped them understand how local resources, traditional skills and innovative ideas can be transformed into sustainable enterprises in Ladakh.
The organisers expressed sincere gratitude to the District Industries Centre (DIC), Kargil, and its officers and departmental representatives for organising the exposure visit, sharing valuable information and providing practical insights into entrepreneurship, Government schemes and local business opportunities. Their interaction with the students made the visit informative and meaningful.
The organisers also expressed gratitude to the Nodal Officer for extending the necessary support and permission, and to Mr Ali Rahim, Assistant Professor, Department of Environmental Science and Coordinator, whose guidance and coordination contributed significantly to the successful conduct of the visit.
The initiative was undertaken by Dr Bilques Fatima, Head, Department of Economics, in collaboration with Mrs Fiza Banoo, Department of Skill Development, and Sayed Rizvi, Department of Geology, with the active participation of the 5th Semester students of GDC Kargil, Sankoo Campus.
