GDC Khaltse Bids Farewell to its Former Principal and Welcomes New Principal.
GDC Khaltse hosted a heartfelt farewell for its outgoing Principal, Professor Stanzin Yangdol, who has been transferred to EJM College Leh. The event also honoured other faculty members of the college having been transferred to other colleges of Ladakh. The college warmly welcomed its new Principal, Dr. Sameena Iqbal, who has assumed charge at GDC Khaltse.
In emotional tributes, faculties and students praised Professor Yangdol’s transformative leadership. Since 2021, her vision and dedication took GDC Khaltse from its humble origins in a small, old hospital building with limited students to a thriving institution. Under her guidance, enrollment quadrupled, a modern pre-fab campus was established, and the Commerce stream was introduced. The conversion of the old hospital into a boys’ hostel (although a temporary arrangement), a consistent 100% pass rate, and top achievements in co-curricular activities highlight her legacy. Today, GDC Khaltse stands as the second-largest college in Leh district by enrollment, a testament to Professor Yangdol’s remarkable contributions.
In her farewell address, Professor Yangdol expressed deep gratitude to the college community for organizing the event and acknowledged everyone’s role in the institution’s growth. She extended her best wishes to the new principal, faculty members, staffs, and students for the college’s future endeavours.
Principal Dr. Sameena Iqbal, in her speech, lauded Professor Yangdol’s pivotal role in advancing the college in a short time. She pledged to continue building on this legacy, aiming to transform GDC Khaltse into a center of excellence where students can realize their full potential and grow into responsible citizens dedicated to serving society and the nation.
