GDC Khaltse Celebrates World Earth Day.
Government Degree College Khaltse celebrated World Earth Day on April 22, 2026, in collaboration with the Forest Department, Khaltse. The event saw enthusiastic participation from college faculty, students, and forest officials, who collectively planted more than 150 saplings of various plant species around the college campus.
Earlier, the Principal of the college, Dr. Sameena Iqbal, in her welcome address, highlighted the shared responsibility of everyone to protect and preserve the planet by planting trees. She urged all present to remain committed to creating a greener and more sustainable world.
Officials from the Forest Department, Khaltse, were felicitated with traditional khatags by the Principal, who also expressed her sincere gratitude for providing the saplings for the event.
Dr. Stanzin Namtak, Assistant Professor of Environmental Science, also addressed the gathering. He spoke about the significance of celebrating World Earth Day and emphasized the importance of taking tangible actions. Highlighting the risks posed by anthropogenic activities, he pointed out how many species are becoming endangered due to human greed and environmental destruction. He urged everyone to take responsibility for protecting the planet and to become environmentally conscious citizens.
The entire program was smoothly conducted by Dr. Padma Thinles, Assistant Professor of English.
