    Government Degree College (GDC), Nubra, had the privilege of hosting the Secretary, Higher Education, Ms. Bhanu Prabha IAS, who visited the campus to primarily review infrastructural facilities and interact with students and college faculty . The Secretary was accompanied by senior officials including Executive Engineer Nubra, Lobzang Yountan, Chief Education Officer Leh, Deldan Angmo, AEE, JE PWD Nubra. The new construction units and under construction buildings include: 50 bedded boys and girls hostel each, alongwith an auditorium and new academic blocks. The visit marked an important moment for the institution, reflecting the administration’s continued commitment to strengthening higher education in remote regions.
    During her inspection, the secretary took a detailed round of the college carefully observing and surveying classrooms, laboratories, library resources, hostel blocks and auditorium. She showed keen interest in understanding the practical challenges faced by the college, especially considering Nubra’s unique geographical and climatic conditions. At a few points, she paused to ask specific questions, making notes and seeking suggestions for improvement.
    An interactive session with faculty members followed, where teachers shared their experiences regarding infrastructure, academic concerns. The discussion remained open and constructive.
    The highlight of the visit was her interaction with students. In a candid and encouraging exchange, students spoke about their aspirations, academic needs, and everyday challenges. The Secretary appreciated their enthusiasm and urged them to make the best use of available opportunities, while also assuring them that their voices are being heard.
    Principal GDC Nubra, Rigzin Sandup expressed gratitude for the visit, noting that such engagements not only boost morale but also help bridge gaps between policy and ground realities. The visit concluded on a positive note, with a shared understanding of the steps needed to further enhance the institution’s infrastructure and academic environment.
