GDC Zanskar Observes Rashtriya Ekta Diwas with a Unity Walk and Pledge Ceremony.
Zanskar, October 31, 2025: Government Degree College, Zanskar observed Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) today to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India.
The programme commenced with a brief introduction by Mr. Haider Ali Askary, Assistant Professor Sociology, who highlighted the significance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas and the remarkable role played by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in the foundation of a strong and united India. He emphasized the relevance of Patel’s vision of oneness and integrity in today’s times, urging students to uphold these ideals in their personal and social lives.
Following this, Dr. Varun Dixit, Assistant Professor delivered an insightful talk on the life, leadership, and contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel to the nation. He spoke about Patel’s determination, foresight, and leadership during the post-independence period, which were instrumental in preserving India’s unity and sovereignty. His address inspired the audience to carry forward Patel’s legacy of dedication and nation-building.
The Unity Pledge was then administered by Dr. Uzma Ahad, Assistant Professor Hindi who led the gathering in reaffirming their commitment to the unity, integrity, and security of the nation. The pledge-taking ceremony was conducted smoothly and with great enthusiasm, symbolizing collective solidarity.
Subsequently, the Unity Walk was organized, in which students and faculty members of GDC Zanskar, along with students from Rainbow School, Zanskar, actively participated. The walk commenced from the college campus and extended up to the National Highway. Participants held placards and chanted slogans promoting unity and harmony, creating a spirited and patriotic atmosphere throughout the march.
The entire programme was conducted successfully under the guidance of the college Principal Dr. Amjad Ali Abassi, reflecting the collective spirit of celebrating the ideals of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas.
