    Zanskar, August 12, 2026: On the eve of International Youth Day under Intensified IEC Campaign -2026, Government Degree College (GDC) Zanskar organized a volleyball match under the supervision of the Principal, Dr. Amjad Ali Abbasi, with the objective of promoting sportsmanship, youth participation, and awareness among students.
    The event was coordinated by Dr. Hussain Ali, Director Physical Education and Sports, who ensured the smooth conduct of the match. The students participated enthusiastically, displaying remarkable team spirit, discipline, and sporting talent throughout the competition.
    Following the sports event, an awareness session was conducted in which students were briefed about the significance of International Youth Day by Dr Sabir Hussain (Assistant Professor, Botany GDC Zanskar). The session highlighted the vital role of youth in nation-building, social development, leadership, education, health, and responsible citizenship. Students were encouraged to become active and responsible members of society and to contribute positively towards the welfare of the community.
    As part of the programme, Dr. Jigmet Zazay, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, briefed the students about HIV and AIDS, creating awareness regarding the disease, its modes of transmission, preventive measures, and necessary precautions. He stressed the importance of accurate knowledge, early awareness, responsible behaviour, and a compassionate attitude towards affected individuals.
    Speaking on the occasion, Principal Dr. Amjad Ali Abbasi appreciated the efforts of the organizers and the enthusiastic participation of the students. He emphasized that such programmes play an important role in the holistic development of students by promoting physical fitness, awareness, confidence, cooperation, and social responsibility. At the conclusion, certificates were distributed among the participating students in recognition of their active involvement and commendable performance.
