Government Primary School Chuchot upgraded to ‘Ladakh Model School’.
Leh, Dec 08, 2025: In a significant step towards strengthening the education ecosystem in rural areas, Government Primary School Basgorong, Chuchot, has been formally upgraded to Ladakh Model School Chuchot.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by the Secretary, School Education Department, UT Ladakh, Bhanu Prabha, along with the Director, School Education, Tashi Dolma. Senior officers, including the DEPO and ZEPO, as well as school staff, students, parents, and community representatives, were also present on the occasion.
Speaking at the event, Secretary Bhanu Prabha congratulated the school community on the establishment of the Model School and noted that the initiative marks an important milestone for the Chuchot area. She emphasised that while infrastructure and facilities form the foundation of a Model School, its true strength lies in the active involvement of the community.
Highlighting the shared responsibility in shaping young learners, she stated that the commitment of both students and parents plays an equally vital role in transforming the school into a benchmark of quality education. She further assured the gathering of the Administration’s continuous support in providing resources, training, and guidance to help the school achieve its goals.
The Secretary also stressed the importance of developing an ideal Model Bal Vatika class, underlining that strong foundational learning at the early-childhood stage is key to ensuring long-term academic success. She encouraged the teachers to adopt child-centred, activity based methods to nurture curiosity, creativity, and confidence among the youngest learners.
During the programme, the dignitaries took a comprehensive round of the school premises, inspecting classrooms and reviewing the upgraded facilities under the Model School framework. They interacted with the students, encouraging them to make the best use of the enhanced learning environment and motivating them to pursue their studies with dedication.
As a gesture of support and to mark the beginning of their academic journey, the dignitaries also felicitated the newly enrolled students with school bags. This symbolic gesture aimed to inspire confidence among the young learners and promote enthusiasm for schooling within the community.
The School Education Department is committed to improve the learning outcomes of the students by providing better infrastructure and deputing qualified and trained teachers.
