Govt. Model Degree College Zanskar organizes SVEEP awareness program.
Kargil, Dec 05, 2024: Government Degree College Zanskar today successfully organized a sensitization cum awareness program as part of Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP).
The event was aimed to provide information and motivate young generation to register their name in electoral roll by targeting students of Higher Secondary School, Padum.
The event was graced by Mohd Hassan, AERO Zanskar, Supervisor Zanskar; BLO Polling Booth Padum; faculty members and students of GDC Zanskar and students from Higher Secondary School (HSS) Padum.
The program began with an address by Mohd Ishaq, Principal Govt. Model Degree College Zanskar, who warmly welcomed the participants. In his speech, he highlighted the importance of active and greater participation in democracy, urging everyone to contribute to the democratic process.
He emphasised the process of registration through online and offline mode and urged the young generation to get enrolled in the electoral roll. He also apprised the participants about the Chief Electroral Officer UT Ladakh’s initiative of poster and video making competition which include handsome prize money and emphasised to participate in the competition.
A painting and a debate competition were also the part of the event. A total of 15 students from HSS Padum and 20 students from GDC Zanskar actively participated in painting and 5 students from HSS School padum and 3 students from GDC Zanskar participated in debate competition.
Among the participants in painting competition Stanzin Palkit, Sonam Chosphel and Tsering Yangdol bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. In debate competition, Zainab Khatoon, Sonam Yanskit and Nawang Ladon got 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
Tsewang Tashi, BLO Padum, delivered a significant talk on the objectives of SVEEP, explaining the process of filling various electoral forms and the importance of voter participation.
Mohd Hassan, AERO and Tehsildar Padum, spoke at length about the SVEEP initiatives and awareness programs strengthening democracy by empowering citizens with knowledge and responsibility.
The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Abid Hussain, Assistant Professor Zoology, who expressed gratitude to all participants and students for their active participation. Certificates of merit and participation were distributed among participants to recognize their efforts and enthusiasm.
