    Kargil, September 3, 2026: A delegation of the Hajj Committee, led by its chairman Hajj Ghulam Abass Abidi, today called on Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Kargil, Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon at Council Secretariat Kargil and apprised him of various issues concerning Hajj pilgrims and the functioning of the Hajj Committee in Kargil.
    During the meeting, the delegation submitted a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the construction of Haj Bhawan / Hajj Facilitation Centre in Kargil, along with a proposal for compound walling around the Hajj Committee office.
    The CEC informed the delegation that the required land for the Haj Bhawan has already been allotted. He further stated that ₹12 lakh has been sanctioned from the CEC’s Untied Fund for the construction of the compound wall around the Hajj Committee office, and assured the members of continued support for initiatives aimed at facilitating Hajj pilgrims from Kargil.
    The delegation also discussed various issues related to Hajj arrangements, facilities and other matters concerning pilgrims from the district. The members expressed their appreciation and congratulated the CEC for the establishment of the Passport Seva Kendra in Kargil, describing it as an important step towards improving passport-related services for the people of the district.
    Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon appreciated the efforts and cooperation extended by the Hajj Committee, including its former and current members, in facilitating Hajj-related matters and serving the community. He emphasized the importance of continued coordination between the Council and the Hajj Committee to ensure better facilities and hassle-free arrangements for pilgrims from Kargil.
    The CEC reiterated that LAHDC Kargil remains committed to extending all possible support to initiatives aimed at improving public services and addressing the genuine concerns of the people of the district.
