Health Department, Leh Observes ‘Month of Compassion’ to Promote Inclusive Healthcare.
Leh, July 21, 2025: The Health Department of Leh, observed the ‘Month of Compassion’ throughout July 2025, launching a series of impactful health initiatives across the district aimed at promoting inclusive, accessible, and empathetic healthcare.
As part of this month-long campaign, various healthcare activities were conducted at the district headquarters, Kharnakling, and all block-level areas, including remote villages, through the deployment of Mobile Medical Units (MMUs). The initiative witnessed active participation from healthcare professionals, volunteers, parents, and members of the local community. The campaign was launched with the objective of improving healthcare access for marginalized populations, fostering community engagement, and embedding compassion in service delivery.
Major Activities Held During the Month:
Blood Donation Camp – On July 5, a blood donation camp organized at Leh, saw a significant turnout of voluntary donors. Several individuals also registered as first-time donors. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of blood donation and its life-saving impact.
Assessment Camp for Children with Special Needs – Kharnakling
A dedicated health assessment camp was held for children with special needs. The camp provided medical evaluations, counseling sessions for parents and caregivers, and referrals for continued care and support.
Mobile Medical Unit Camps – Across All Blocks of Leh
To ensure healthcare reached the most remote parts of the district, MMUs were dispatched to all blocks. These camps offered general health check-ups, distribution of essential medicines, and health awareness campaigns focusing on hygiene and disease prevention.
The Month of Compassion organized by the Health Department, Leh, made a big difference in the community. It helped more people take part in health programs, brought medical services to far-off villages, and encouraged kind and caring healthcare. It also prepared the way for more such programs in the future. The department now plans to hold regular health camps for children with special needs, elderly people, and those living in remote areas. People are encouraged to continue supporting these efforts to build a healthier and more caring Ladakh.
