Drass, August 17, 2026: On the concluding day of the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign, an impressive event was held at Government Higher Secondary School, Bhimbat with immense enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. Deputy Commissioner, Drass, Imteeaz Kacho (JKAS); SDM-Drass Vishal Atri; Principal, Tashi Gyalsan; Naib Tehsildar Drass; Tehsil Supply Officer, Drass; Lambardar Bhimbat, along with teachers, students, staff members as well as other dignitaries and village elders were present on the occasion. Students presented patriotic songs and delivered inspiring speeches highlighting the significance of the tricolour, patriotism, national unity and the spirit of independence.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the deep sense of patriotism and love for the National Flag displayed by the students and youth of the school in particular and all residents of Drass in general. He lauded their confidence, enthusiasm and talent, describing them as the future of Drass and encouraged them to dream big and work with determination, discipline and self-confidence. He urged the students to aspire to become good teachers, doctors, professionals and responsible citizens who can contribute meaningfully towards the progress of society and the nation.
Highlighting the importance of education and reading general books, the Deputy Commissioner urged students to make greater use of libraries and books, including good novels and meaningful literature, to broaden their knowledge, imagination and understanding. He also appealed to parents to provide their children with adequate time, encouragement and opportunities for education. He assured the students that the District Administration will always remain committed to providing platforms to identify, encourage and showcase their skills, creativity and talent. He further emphasized the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment, urging people to reduce plastic use and promote greater public awareness. Referring to awareness programmes against drug abuse, he appreciated the participation and support of students and the community and said that such initiatives would continue in the future. He also particularly appreciated the performance of the Higher Secondary School’s NCC contingent in the march past and cultural performance during the UT Level Independence Day celebrations in Leh and particularly praised the role of the Principal Tashi Gyalsan. Further, he encouraged the cadets and students to continue striving for excellence and represent Drass at the UT and national levels.
On the occasion, the school authorities put forth a demand for a school bus, highlighting the transportation requirements of the students particularly for the ongoing remedial classes. The Deputy Commissioner assured that he will look into the matter and appreciated the enthusiastic participation of students, teachers and the community in the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign and congratulated everyone on the Independence Day celebrations. He called upon students, teachers, parents and the wider community to collectively promote education, discipline, environmental responsibility, a drug-free society and national unity. He also congratulated the school for winning the UT Level Science Exhibition held in DIET-Leh in innovative ideas.
Subsequently, as part of the campaign, a Tiranga Rally was taken out from complex of the school and concluded at the War Memorial. The Deputy Commissioner and Sub-Divisional Magistrate accompanied the students, teachers, village residents and other participants in the impressive rally with enthusiasm, carrying the National Flag and spreading the message of patriotism and national unity.
The programme marked the successful culmination of the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign at the school, reinforcing the message of national pride, unity and collective responsibility towards the nation. The enthusiastic participation of the students and staff reflected the deep respect and affection for the National Flag and further strengthened the spirit of patriotism and unity among the participants.
