Himalayan Brown Bear Trust concludes 10-Day Nature Guide Training Programme.
Kargil, July 20, 2025 – Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Kargil, Imteaaz Kacho today attended the concluding ceremony of the ten-day Nature Guide Training Programme organised by Himalayan Brown Bear Trust (supported by Royal Enfield) here today at Kargil.
The event was attended by the LADHC Councillors of Lower Drass and Upper Drass Abdul Wahid and Abdul Samad; Assitant Director, Tourism, Kargil, Mohd. Ali Tak; Historian and Author Ajaz Hussain Munshi, Resource Persons, Office Bearers of the Trust, Trainees of the Programme and other guests/enthusiasts.
While addressing the gathering, the ADC-Kargil appreciated the sincere and silent efforts of Muzammil Hussain, Founder of the Himalayan Brown Bear Trust for actively working in the field of sustainable tourism and wildlife conservation. He asserted that efforts need to be made to reduce human-animal conflict and that it has to be understood that a shared territory between humans and animals needs to be created so that both species coexist peacefully. He added that there is a need of nature guides considering the number of beautiful landscapes and unexplored destinations Kargil possesses.
He added that the UT Administration is also committed towards promoting wildlife and sustainable tourism and advised the trainees to expand their network with creative people across Ladakh in the fields of filmmaking, photography and journalism.
Further, Kacho felicitated Historian and Author Ajaz Hussain Munshi and appreciated his efforts towards heritage conservation and attempts to document the history of Kargil. While informing the gathering about the fact that Munshi has authored and co-authored a number of books on history, Kacho lauded his acumen and scholarly aptitude.
On the occasion, Assistant Director, Tourism, Mohd Ali Tak advised the trainees to take benefit from the schemes and opportunities provided by the Tourism Department. In addition, he appreciated the efforts of the Himalayan Brown Bear Trust towards organizing the Nature Guide Training Programme.
Muzammil Hussain, Founder Himalayan Brown Bear Trust threw light on the activities of the trust particularly in the field of Brown Bear conservation and mitigation with the species and humans. He added that the training programme was aimed to enhane the skills of youths and expressed hope that the trainees would use the knowledge, acquired during the camp, in their lives and will opt for Nature Guide as a career opportunity.
The LAHDC Councillors from Drass and Bhimbhat Constituency, Abdul Samad and Abdul Wahid, also addressed the gathering and thanked the organisers for conducting the training camp in Drass and also acknowledged the efforts of the Himalayan Brown Bear Trust towards conservation of Brown Bear.
During the event, the trainers and trainees also shared their experiences gained during the training and thanked the organisers for having for conducted the camp.
During the event, certificates and guide kits were also distributed amongst the participants and resource persons by the dignitaries as tokens of appreciation. The programme’s proceedings was conducted by Sajjad Hussain Bob.
