Holy Relics of Lord Buddha Received at Sindhu Ghat after 2-Day Sacred Exposition at Zanskar.
Leh, May 13: After a two-day public veneration of the holy relics of Tathagata Buddha in Zanskar, the sacred relics arrived in Leh on Wednesday and were ceremonially received at Sindhu Ghat by monks under the aegis of the Ladakh Gonpa Association (LGA), members of the Ladakh Buddhist Association (LBA), district officials and hundreds of devotees who gathered to catch a glimpse of the revered relics and offer prayers.
The reception ceremony reflected Ladakh’s rich Buddhist traditions, with devotees welcoming the relics through traditional offerings of khal-chor, ceremonial scarves and incense. Monks performed sacred rituals while the sound of gyaling (the traditional Himalayan monastic wind instrument) echoed across the Sindhu riverfront, creating a devotional atmosphere.
Following the reception, the relics were taken in a ceremonial procession to the Dharma Centre, where 1700 monks and nuns from various monasteries and nunneries assembled for prayers and veneration ceremonies.
The arrival of the relics marked another important occasion in the ongoing Sacred Relics Exposition being organised in Ladakh, which has drawn an overwhelming response from devotees and visitors from across the Himalayan region.
