    Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra inaugurates several developmental projects in Kargil.
    Kargil, August 24, 2024: Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retired) on Saturday visited Thuvina and Faroona villages as part of visit to Kargil district.
    He interected with public representatives to assess local developmental works and gain insight into aspirations and expectations of people stressing that their needs are addressed effectively on the ground.
    The Hon’ble Lt. Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra inaugurated newly constructed bridge at Thuvina, Sankoo, Kargil on Suru River. The other dignitaries who were present during the inaugural ceremony included Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon; DC/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Suse; Superintendent of Police Kargil, Shree Ram R; SDM Sankoo; SE PWD, Kargil, Skalzang Dorjay; Councilor Saliskote, Mohd Sajjad Khan and other officers and officials.
    On the occasion of inaugural ceremony, the CEC Kargil on behalf of people of Thuvina extended heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Lt. Governor for visiting the village.
    While speaking at the event, the CEC said the presence of Hon’ble Lt. Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra signifies his strong commitment to development and welfare of the people of Ladakh.
    The CEC presented a memorandum on behalf of his Constituency and submitted the following grievances and demands before the Hon’ble Lt. Governor for the kind consideration.
    The demands included upgradation of Govt. Middle School Thovina to High School, sanctioning of a Community Development (CD) Block in Thovina, promotion of Rural Tourism in Thovina, establishment of a Solar Power Plant in Thovina, construction of Faroona–Dandal Drass Tunnel etc.
    While interacting with the people, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra said that post formation of UT Ladakh, the developmental progress has been speeded up in UT Ladakh.
    About the promotion of tourism, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor said that the promotion of tourism is priority of the UT Administration. The Hon’ble Lt. Governor assured the people that all their issues and demands will be looked up as per norms in due course of time.
    The Hon’ble Lt. Governor said that people need to work in cooperation and coordination with the administration for the development and progress of the region and for nation.
    Hon’ble Lt. Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra also inaugurated 300 litres Milk Pasteurization Plant of Tiger Hill Cooperative Society Ltd. Farona and flagged off three Milk Vans at Faroona, Kargil.
    The other dignitaries who were present during the inaugural ceremony included Chairman/CEC LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon; Executive Councilor, Rural Development and Panchayati Ray/Cooperative, Er. Punchok Tashi; Executive Councilor, Social Welfare, Aga Syeed Mujtaba; DC/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Suse; SSP Kargil, Shree Ram R; Additional Registrar Cooperative UT, Ladakh Syed Sajjad Qadri, SE PWD, Kargil, Skalzang Dorjay; Councilor Saliskote, Mohd Sajjad and other officers and officials.
    During the event, Councilor Saliskote, Mohd Sajjad on behalf of the people of his constituency presented a memorandum of demands which include construction of Lassar Tunnel, Re-modelling of Khumbathang Canal, upgradation of Middle School Faroona to High School, upgradation of High School Saliskote to Higher Secondary level, revision of land rate under defense at Khumbathang and induction of locals as permanent porters in ordnance, supply, MES, cleaning of debris from fertile land which had accumulated due to flood some years back.
    While replying to the demand of construction of Lassar Tunnel, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor assured that the matter will be looked upon and needful will be done as per the norms.
    Regarding the cleaning of debris from fertile land due to flood, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor directed DC Kargil to resolve the issue on priority.
    Regarding other demands, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor assured that all the demands will be prioritised and will be solved as per norms.
    The Hon’ble Lt. Governor also visited Fish Farm Khachan. He was apprised that a DPR for the water channel for the fish farm is under process.
    Meanwhile, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor visited Khree Sultan Cho Stadium, Baimathang, Kargil where he interacted with the selected female students who would be sent to Hon’ble President House in New Delhi for training purpose. This program provides an opportunity to the young female horse riders to receive professional training in horse polo and excel in the sport.
    The Coach apprised the Hon’ble Lt. Governor that during the three-day training camp, the students learned essential horse-riding skills including horse control, team coordination, polo control with a stick and attacking techniques.
    While interacting with the female students, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor assured that the students would be provided all kinds of facilities during their stay in Delhi.
    The Hon’ble Lt. Governor also said that for the development and progress of the society and the nation, the women participation is necessary.
